Home from Vegas

Most of the Vegas trip is a blur, so I don't think a full trip report will be possible. Here's a couple of memorable quotes from the weekend that come to mind:

"I've never made a good laydown in my life" - Mickey in ITH main event

"Wait, what's you're screen name again?" - Geo contemplating calling a raise in the day 1 ITH NL event

"I've seen more suckouts than an 80 year old whore" - Mickey in ITH main event

"I check to Lee Jones" - Me after being 3 bet preflop by a guy wearing all poker stars gear

"What the hat says" - Mathew going all in in day 1 NL event…throws his "I'm all in" hat into pot

"I never read my copy of Harrington on Hangovers" - Me after showing up 30 minutes late to the day 1 ITH limit event

It was a fantastic time and I got to meet a great bunch of people. I faired extremely well in most of the cash games I played and managed to hang on to place 5th in the ITH NL main event. The hand that got me to the final table was K2o (I pushed first in) against K10s and AA. Turned a duece and rivered a K to triple up, lol. Having 20-30 spectators watch that hand unfold made it a pretty exciting suckout!

Can't wait to do it again next year!

Stupid Hurricane

The damned reminants of hurricane Dennis forced all flights out of my airport to be cancelled today. So instead of partying like a rockstar in Vegas, I sat at home and drank a few skunked beers. Oh yeah, I also played 4 $30 sng's at stars...won them all :)

At $135 each that's some nice spending money for sin city. Um...er, not that I will use it to sin with :)

My rebooked flight is scheduled to arrive in Vegas Thursday night a 9PM. I'll do my anti-rain dance before I go back to the airport tomorrow. BTW, I now officially hate anyone named Dennis - consider that a warning.

Almost as old as Doyle Brunson

ok...maybe not quite. Turned 31 today and celebrated with beers and friends. Then came home and played some micro limit 6max NL with reckless abondon..... just like I was 21 again. Well ok, acting recklessly 10 years ago didn't involve micro limit poker...not even close :) My how we mellow with age.

Sitll, I enjoy being a maniac. Suits me well I think.

Cashout blues

My last credit card statement was SICK. Flights to Vegas and Denver, roof repairs on house, new TV to replace the one that died...on and on and on. So guess what? Yep. My BR is now 1/3 of what it was last week :( G$D F*&^NG D#$&IT!

I withdrew over 2K from party (actually, I already had because of bitterness over the rake there, but it was sitting in neteller waiting for a new home). Well...it found a new home as a credit card payment and is gone forever. That left me with a meager $90 at party, 600 at stars, and $450 at paradise. Looks like Wade needs to back down a few levels.

On a positive note, I've already turned my remaining $90 at Party into over $300 in 2 days just playing sng's. Still bummed about this setback, but that's life.

Mystery of the disapearing Wade

Just realized how long it's been since I posted...my bad!

About 2 weeks ago I had a monster slide at 2/4 that wound up costing me the entire 100 BBs I had earned over the previous month. Since then I've taken a break from full ring cash games.

I did tool around on the new 3/6 6max party tables for a bit, but the rake there is just tremendous. Every pot was raked $2 or so. I won a little bit playing there, but there's no way I'd consider continuing at those tables considering the sick rake.

I've played a few tourneys including a 1400 person party point free roll that took all day last Saturday. I busted 11th on a wicked bad beat KK vs 710o. That hand would have gotten me to FT in great shape to make a run at 1st for $550, but as it turns out I played 5.5 hours only to win $50 for 11th. I also played in the Shell limit MTT at paradise at the same time and managed 4th which was good for $180, so it wasn't a total waste of a day. Took the next 2 days off to relax and get over a cold.

Today I played one 30+3 sng at party and took first for $150. I have no idea what I'll be playing next, but I have definately lost alot of my desire to play. One SNG or MTT per day seems like all I feel like playing lately...but I'm sure the bug will return eventually.

I've also qualified for the final table in the ITH fall league this weekend, so I'm looking forward to that. Not really sure how I snuck in given some of the great NL players in it and that I missed 2 weeks of the regular season.

Well that's it for now...I'll try and do a better job of updating this blog (even when things are running bad!)
